As the Spitfires seek to soar up the steps in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League in ’24-25 they will have a slew of seasoned defenders to look up to including 6 foot 6 plus minus leader Tanner Winegard.

Winegard, who has a 2005 birth date, led all Windsor defenseman on the plus minus chart in ’23-24 in what was his OHL rookie season.

A pair of other rookie defensemen followed Winegard as plus minus leaders on the ’23-24 edition of the Spitfires — Conor Walton and Carson Woodall. Both have 2006 birth dates.

The troika of defenders display as potential key cogs for the Spitfire engine in ’24-25 as Windsor is positioned to return to the high ground of the Western Conference after missing the playoffs in ’23-24 following first place finishes in both ’21-22 and ’22-23.
