Morneau nets two more
Overage scoring sensation Noah Morneau (in photo at left) helped propel the Spitfires to yet another playoff victory on Wednesday. The former 15th round draft pick tallied twice as Windsor took Game 1 of its Ontario Hockey League Western Conference semi final series from the visiting Kitchener Rangers.
Morneau now has a league leading 10 playoff goals in just six outings for the Spitfires, who ousted the Soo Greyhounds four games to one in the opening round.
Liam Greentree, Anthony Cristoforo and 2008 birth year rookie defenseman Andrew Robinson also scored for the Spitfires in front of dependable goalie Joey Costanzo, who made 18 saves.
Robinson’s goal was his first OHL marker. The young defenseman played in only four regular season games for the Spitfires but has dressed in all six of their playoff matches due to injuries to a number of regulars on the Windsor blue line.
The 5-1 opening game triumph for Windsor over Kitchener gives the Spitfires a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series heading into Game 2 on Saturday at the WFCU Center.
