Locals at Spitfires camp
Windsor area products Luke St. John and Jordan Maine will be two defensemen from among 16 players — seven blue liners, seven forwards and two goalies — who will take part in the Spitfires annual Ontario Hockey League orientation camp this weekend.
The 5 foot 10, 160 pound St. John was taken by Windsor in the 13th round of the 2025 OHL priority selections draft. Meanwhile, the 5 foot 8, 170 pound Maine was a 15th round priority selections pick by the Spitfires at the same 2025 OHL draft. Both have 2009 birth dates.

St. John was a top defender for the Windsor Jr. Spitfires of the Under 16 level of the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario during the ’24-25 season. In 35 games, regular season and playoffs included for the U16 Jr. Spitfires, St. John stood out with 14 goals, 13 assists, 27 points.
Meanwhile, regular season and playoffs included for the Sun County Panthers of the Under 16 AAA level Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario in ’24-25, Maine produced one goal, 19 assists, 20 points in 35 games.
Frank Evola, who is the scouting director for the OHL Spitfires, gave a brief take on both St. John and Maine.
“He has a lot of offensive ability,” Evola said of St. John. “There are things we like. He can really zip the puck and is kind of a power play guy. If he can work on other parts of his game, the door is open for him.”
Over to Maine, Evola noted that the Sun County defender “was one of the go to guys on that team. He was a little injured during the season, but fought through it and has a lot of potential.”
As for the Spitfires orientation camp slated for this Saturday and Sunday at the WFCU Centre, it will include both on and off ice sessions. All on ice sessions will be free and open to the public. The on ice sessions will be highlighted by a practice and 3 on 3 scrimmage on Saturday from 4-6:30 p.m.
