Essex ties playoff series
Captain Gabriel Piccolo’s second period goal stood up as the game winner as the Essex 73’s evened their Provincial Jr. C Hockey League semi final series with the New Hamburg Firebirds at one game apiece.
The goal for Piccolo (in photo) was his 10th of the playoffs. Tyler Fleming also scored for Essex, which outshot New Hamburg by a 33-21 margin.
Goalie Brogan Colquhoun netted the win for Essex to boost his playoff record to 14-2-2.
Game 3 in the best of seven series is slated for Wednesday in New Hamburg.
