73’s off to league finals
What has been a 24 game spring playoff run for the Essex 73’s will continue into yet another round. The 73’s are off to the Provincial Jr. C Hockey League finals for the first time in 10 years.
Essex eked out a 2-1 road win over the New Hamburg Firebirds to take the best of seven semi final set four games to one.
Luke Sherk, with his team leading 13th goal of the playoffs, and Austin Guevremont scored for Essex in the decisive Game 5 triumph. Both players also added assists.
Meanwhile, goalie Brogan Colquhoun made 21 saves for his 17th win of the 2025 playoffs for Essex. Colquhoun has a playoff record of 17-2-2 with a 1.72 goals against average and .928 save percentage for the 73’s in this spring’s playoffs.
